I know it's been going on for awhile now, but why is it that the CN tower has crazy lights? Is it for the community? Is it for the tourists?

I'm all for things that light up the night sky, so it doesn't really bother me - I'm pretty excited to see it for myself. The pictures and videos that I've seen of it are neat.
I think it sparkles too? I like things that sparkle.
