I *heart* my students

There are so many cheesey reasons why I got into my profession, and I don't really want to get into those reasons now, but a recent "Calc Party" proved to be reason for me to get warm fuzzies.

Sure, the bottom line is that they just wanted to have a party, and knew I wasn't going to give up my lesson time for it. They were great...they prepped by creating crowns for each member of the classroom (labelled with mathy puns for each of the names) and went through the paper recycling box and found photocopies of old AP calc exams to make them with. That sat patiently (well, sort of), crowns on their heads while I taught my lesson, and when I was done teaching, the party began...

My students can ALWAYS make me smile. I assume that none of them will ever read this (I hope not at least), but I hope each of them know how special they are. I come in to work everyday for them.

Another great line on the other board:
CALC < NOTHING

Winter sledding

On March 5th, I went sledding. (There was an abundance of snow here towards the end of the season - at least, a lot for Neuch standards).
I was expecting to take the funicular up to Chaumont and find some random hill up there and toboggan kind of like how we do at home. Obviously I was wrong.
We did take the funi up to Chaumont and the runs down a hill were just "warm-up" runs. Our actual adventure would be sledding through the forest all the way back down to Neuch.
I think it took about an hour or so. It was crazy cool.
And I learned a new verb from the experience: freiner
Good times. I gotta get myself a Davos.

Still here...

Don't worry, I'm still alive and kickin. Actually, I don't think that I'll be kickin for awhile...I'm in a lot of pain. Good pain though.
Spent about 45minutes running in the rain in some dark Swiss-German forest. Ugh. I still hate running.
Oh, and sypoba. My gosh. It's friggin amazing. My core...yeeeesh.

Dad: Got any wooden planks and metal tubes lying around? Start building! (Don't worry, I've already started thinking about what I've got lying around that'll work. Soup cans...textbooks...)

I can't see myself updating anytime soon, but when I eventually do, I'll have lots more adventures to tell about. I think I'm going to wimp out and just post pictures though.
