I'm back from Portugal (look at that Country Count go up!), and I had a fantastic time. As I type, I'm uploading my gazillion pictures to my computer, so it might take awhile before I get around to posting something concrete about the trip.
Two things that I wanted to mention because I find it amusing:
1) I watched the original season of The Apprentice. It was the episode where the teams are trying to sell artwork and Omarosa barges into the boardroom in tears. Ha ha ha. No dubbing, so I watched the episode in utter bliss (subtitles don't bother me one bit anymore).
2) I held for the first time (and possibly the last) a Hermes bag. It was the first Hermes bag (well, since it came on my radar...what 2.5 years ago...oh, I was so sheltered before I moved out to the old continent...ha ha ha) that I've actually liked. I find most of them too structured and matronly. I think this one was a reasonable 5000-ish euros. Obviously they're not going to show the beautiful stuff on the website, so I can't link to a picture of the bag. The saleslady was really nice and explaining how FAB it was (she really didn't need to - I already knew) and she mentioned the name od the design, but you know how bad my memory is. The best way I can describe it (I'm still a little fashion lingo deficient) is a rectangular prism with curved corners and of course handles too. Well, I never thought I'd get the courage to go into a Hermes store (check, November 2005), let alone talk to a saleslady and pretend I belonged there (check, January 2007) and model a bag (check, March 2007)...one of these days a bag will appear at my doorstep/Christmas tree (someone out there with too much money...let me check that off my list too! tee hee!)
