Taken aback

Lunch today consisted of various salads, pot pie (chicken or vegetable) and rice. A colleague who was serving herself at the same time as I was, made a comment (as I opened the lid of one of the containers) that surprised me. She said something along the lines of, "Oh, it's rice! I bet you'll want to take some of that, being Oriental and all."
