Tonight, I attended Phénix, which was part of Complètement Cirque. When Stravinsky's Firebird started, I immediately got chills. It's just one or two notes, and I already know.
Rachmininoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini gets to me every time as well. I usually get a chill, and then I start to tear up. I mean, number 18? C'mon.
There are many pieces of music that I associate with different memories and my reaction to them is related to my feelings about the experience, but some pieces of music are just so powerful that I cannot help but have a visceral reaction. Sometimes movie soundtracks are equally as effective.
