Not just a chocolate bar, but a part of history.
So on the bus ride to and from Creux de Van, we see toblerones. They are concrete versions of the chocolate bar. Individual pieces.
The Swiss used them in World War II near the French borders to keep the tanks out. The French tanks. The French at this point were taken over by the Nazis.
The toblerones would either stop the tanks from being able to go through, or slow them down enough for the Swiss to kill off the occupants of the tanks.
The Swiss have been thinking about removing the toblerones now that World War II is over and all, but have decided to keep them there as a part of their history.
That is what I learned today.
