For your etiquette pleasure:
When there's a lady/ladies involved - 3 kisses on cheeks, starting on the right cheek.
Between two gentlemen - a handshake.
You may think that this all sounds pretty normal (except in France and Italy I think it's only 2 kisses), but people of all ages have this etiquette. School aged folk (ranging from middle to high school) even greet each other this way. I'm just not used to seeing two thuggy looking guys swaggering up to each other, and then shake hands in a very uppity manner. It's kind of neat actually.
