Grocery stores are a BIG deal here. Not just a place to buy your groceries, but also a place to purchase clothes, appliances, furniture, games, sporting equipment...everything. They also have restaurants and run schools.
There are a couple major grocery stores in Switzerland.
Co-op and Migros are the main two.
Co-op is more expensive than Migros and also runs the Walmart-esque store EPA.
Migros is enjoyable. I like to purchase things for cheap. Migros offers pilates, language, art, dance, sporting classes and more. With a Migros card, you can accumulate points which can get you gift certificates for the store. There are three levels of Migros stores. M, MM and MMM. (Small to big)
There's also Denners. The Denners near the school doesn't have any fresh produce, but they're dirt cheap for alcohol, bulk packages and meat.
It is key to keep your eyes peeled for "Action" signs. Action = Sale! Denners has amazing sales on meat products.
